Eyelash Extension Glue Allergies & Managing Allergic Reactions
Understanding Eyelash Extension Glue Allergies
At Lush Lash and Co, we prioritize the safety and comfort of our clients. Eyelash extension glue allergies, though rare, can occur and it's important to understand the symptoms and management strategies.
Common Symptoms of Glue Allergies
-
Redness and Irritation: Eyes may appear red and feel itchy or irritated.
-
Swelling: Swelling around the eyelids or eye area.
-
Watery Eyes: Excessive tearing or watery eyes.
-
Itching or Burning Sensation: A persistent itching or burning sensation around the eyes.
Spontaneous Allergies
It's important to note that eyelash extension glue allergies can occur spontaneously, even if you have previously had extensions without any issues. Unfortunately, once an allergy has developed, it is likely that you may become allergic to all extension glues in the future. Reactions may also become more severe with each exposure.
What causes an Allergy
The main cause of an eyelash extension glue allergy is usually an allergic reaction to one or more ingredients in the adhesive. The most common allergen in eyelash extension glues is cyanoacrylate, which is the main bonding agent used in most eyelash adhesives. When clients have sensitive skin or eyes, or are predisposed to allergies, they may react to this compound. It is important to advise any future salons of any past reactions and repeat exposure may result in an extreme anaphylactic response. Please discuss this with your doctor.
